My neighbor's cat and dog are walking freely around the community and onto my property, what can I do?
While cats do not have to be licensed in Henrico County, dogs do. A dog license is required of all dogs over the age of four months and covers the calendar year from January 1 to December 1. Dogs used to assist impaired persons (such as sight dogs) are exempt from licensing.
As for freely walking the community or on your property, we ask that homeowners not bring pets into their home unless control can be maintained. Running the neighborhood is a disrespect to your neighbors and also a danger to your pets. If your pet damages another homeowners' property or is seen defecating on it, you could be setting yourself up for a civil suit. If you see a stray or abandoned dog in the neighborhood, please contact Henrico County's non-emergency number at (804) 501-5000.
I want streetlights and sidewalks in our community, what do I need to do?
Part of the aesthetics of our community is the lack of sidewalks. Without them, the community maintains its park-like settings. The Mountain Glen community was designed with this concept in mind to keep a more rural setting. It would not be possible financially to incorporate sidewalks into our community as it would take a total rework of the storm system along with curbs and cutters and this would be at the association's expense.
In addition, street lights were not part of the plan for this planned community to promote a rural feeling. We do however encourage member residents to put their porch and garage lights on during evening hours in keeping streets lighted and to discourage the possibility of crime and vehicle theft within the community.
